Crafting a Hygge Christmas with Organic and Plant-Based Warmth

Welcome to a cozy corner in the internet, where hygge makes us feel the cozy warmth of the holiday season! Lets dive in to the Danish concept that revolves around creating a warm and inviting atmosphere - hygge!

This comforting tradition can be paired with the goodness of organic products, especially adding plant-based milk in our Christmas coffee and hot drinks. Let me share with you some tips on how to make this holiday season not only cozy but also mindful and sustainable.

Tip 1: Create a Cozy Atmosphere

Hygge is all about the ambiance – the soft glow of lights, the flicker of candles, and the embrace of plush throws. To achieve the perfect hygge atmosphere, consider decorating your home with natural elements like pine cones and branches. Dim the lights and let the gentle glow envelop your space, creating a haven of warmth and tranquility.

Tip 2: Share Homemade Treats

There's something magical about sharing homemade treats during the holidays. This year, we're adding a twist by incorporating organic and plant-based ingredients into our Christmas favorites. One delightful treat we're crafting is Brunkager, or gingerbread cookies. Not only do these treats taste heavenly, but they also contribute to a sustainable and eco-friendly celebration.

Here's the recipe for our organic and plant-based Brunkager:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups organic flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 cup plant-based butter

  • 1/2 cup organic brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseeds mixed with 3 tbsp water (as an egg substitute)

  • 1 tsp organic cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp organic ginger

  • 1/4 tsp organic cloves

  • A pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, cream together plant-based butter and brown sugar.

  2. Add the flaxseed mixture and maple syrup, mixing well.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, spices, and salt.

  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, forming a dough.

  5. Roll the dough into a log and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).

  7. Slice the dough into cookies and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

Tip 3: Embrace Simple Decorations

Keep your decorations simple and meaningful. Opt for handmade ornaments or items that hold sentimental value.

These DIY decorations not only add a personal touch to your space but also contribute to a minimalist approach to decor. Choose natural, earthy tones and textures to create a sense of calm and align with the hygge philosophy.

Tip 4: Enjoy Quality Time with Loved Ones

In the true spirit of hygge, focus on spending quality time with family and friends. Create a cozy corner for storytelling, board games, or simply unwinding with good conversation. This year, why not take a step further and disconnect from digital devices, savoring the joy of being present in the moment?

As we wrap up our guide to a hygge-inspired Christmas, remember that it's not just about the decorations or treats; it's about creating meaningful moments with the ones you love. Wishing you all a warm, cozy, and plant-powered holiday season. Stay cozy and conscious!
